ONE PLACE TO MAKE MUSIC

An editor built around the moment you press play.

Files, sound controls, transport and output stay close to the code. Move from an idea to a playable session without changing tools.

01 / PLAY

Hear your code

Run the active Strudel document, set tempo in BPM, and inspect the real output through a level meter and spectrum.

02 / SHAPE

Touch the source

Use rhythm and parameter controls for supported expressions. Every edit writes back to the document and shares its undo history.

03 / KEEP

Stay organized

Create browser workspaces, keep multiple documents open, and return to your sessions with local autosave.

MIX, THEN TAKE IT WITH YOU

From a sketch to a file you can share.

Solo a track to hear its part, balance tracks with individual levels, then export the main flow as WAV or MP3.

Start a session

A second set of ears for the code.

Ask what a Strudel pattern does, explore a variation, or request a code edit. When the assistant is configured, edits arrive as a diff you review before applying.

Open a workspace
ASK“What does this groove play?”
EDIT“Make the hats busier. Keep the kick.”

Review the proposed source change, then apply or reject it.

GOOD TO KNOW

Before you press play.

Where are my projects saved?

Local browser workspaces autosave in this browser. Clearing site data removes them, so export files you want to keep. The desktop app can open folders and save files directly to disk. Shared workspaces use cloud storage and are separate from your local projects.

Do I need an account or Git?

No. You can create, edit and play local workspaces in the browser or desktop app without an account. Sign in to use shared workspaces and collaboration. Git is optional and available in the desktop app.

Can I edit Strudel code directly?

Yes. Code is the source of every session. Knobs, sliders and rhythm grids write supported changes back into that code. Expressions that cannot be safely edited with a control remain available to edit directly.

Is the desktop app available now?

Yes. JamScript has desktop installers for Windows, macOS and Linux. Visit the Download section to choose your platform, or find all formats and release notes on GitHub Releases.

What is different about the desktop app?

Desktop adds local folder access, file saving, disk-change detection and Git integration. Both versions provide the music editor, playback, source-linked controls and IntelliSense. The browser keeps local workspaces in its own storage.

Can I make music offline?

The desktop app supports local editing and playback with audio assets already available on your device. Downloading new sample packs, signing in, collaboration and AI assistance require an internet connection.

How do I collaborate with someone?

Sign in, open a shared workspace and invite collaborators by email. Participants need a JamScript account. Owners manage access with editor and viewer roles; connected collaborators can see shared code changes and each other’s cursors. Opening a local folder does not share it automatically.

When do my changes affect the music?

During playback, supported knob, slider, rhythm-grid and tempo changes update upcoming musical events. Apply typed code with Ctrl+Enter on Windows and Linux, or Cmd+Enter on macOS. Autosave keeps your source independently of playback; sounds and effect tails already playing can continue naturally.

Can I use my own Strudel patterns and sample packs?

Yes. Paste Strudel code into a document and load external sample packs with calls such as samples('github:eddyflux/crate'). External packs need reachable download URLs. Complex patterns remain editable as code even when a visual control is unavailable.

What can the AI assistant do?

Ask mode answers questions using the source context you choose. Edit mode proposes file changes as a diff for you to review before applying. AI assistance needs a connection to the configured service; it does not run arbitrary shell commands.

Where can I learn the controls?

Start with a built-in song or beat, then explore the documentation for the editor, playback, desktop workflows and collaboration. You can also open Help inside the workbench.
